Wyatt Wilderman Named CUW Golf Head Coach

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Athletics Department, led by Dr. Rob Barnhill, has hired Wyatt Wilderman as the new head coach of the CUW golf program.

"I am excited about the hiring of Wyatt Wilderman to be our next men's and women's golf coach," said Director of Athletics Dr. Rob Barnhill. "Wyatt has extensive experience at CUW, both as a student-athlete and a coach. Wyatt truly understands what it means to be a Concordian, and as an alumnus, he has a passion for CUW athletics and the golf program. I look forward to having our golf teams reach new heights under his leadership, as I feel he has a firm grasp on the recruitment and development needs of our current and future golf student-athletes."

Wilderman, a proud graduate of Concordia University Wisconsin, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role. A former standout on the CUW golf team, he has a proven track record both as a player and coach.

Currently serving as the Assistant Golf Professional at CUW's home course, the River Club of Mequon, a private country club, Wilderman has honed his coaching and player development skills. He also brings valuable leadership experience from his role as the assistant coach for the CUW ACHA hockey team, where he played a key part in the team's success, helping them reach the National Tournament last season with a remarkable 25-12-2 record.

Before transitioning to coaching hockey, Wilderman was a graduate assistant for the CUW golf program for two years, where he worked closely with the team while earning his master's degree in 2023. During his undergraduate years, Wilderman excelled both on the golf course and on the ice. As a golf team member, he earned All-NACC honors during the 2020-21 season and currently ranks fourth all-time in school history for the best scoring average over his two-and-a-half-year career.

In addition to his success in golf, Wilderman had a distinguished four-year career with the CUW ACHA hockey team. He played 89 games, scoring 13 goals and 46 assists, and helped lead the Falcons to two National Tournament appearances.

Before his time at CUW, Wilderman attended Millikin University, where he was also a member of the golf team for three semesters.

Outside of coaching, Wilderman is a competitive golfer, continuing to hone his game in the Wisconsin PGA circuit. This past summer, he earned a sixth-place finish in the Assistant Player of the Year points race, posting a season-scoring average of 73.5.

"I will always appreciate this opportunity to take over the team I once played for. I want to thank everyone who believed in me during the hiring process and Dr. Barnhill for taking a chance on a 26-year-old. I am excited to be back on this campus and eager to get the spring semester started."

Wilderman and the men's and women's golf programs will tee-off their season in the spring of 2025.
