QUOTING MATTHEW KORMAN, DYLAN GRIFFITH

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first two sets were tight with 22 scoring ties and 11 lead changes combined and both teams needed extra points to take their frame. During the third and fourth sets, things slowed down and the Falcons took control in the third set, however, the Sabres responded with their own momentum-building attack in the fourth set to even the match.
- It came down to the fifth set and Concordia Wisconsin put together a 9-4 scoring run that gave them the league victory. During the scoring run, sophomore Ryan Hoefs (Greendale, Wis.) dialed up an ace while four of his teammates smashed kills.
- It is the second year in a row the Falcons have begun NACC play with a five-set victory. Last year they defeated No. 13 MSOE inside the R. John Buuck Field House to begin conference play.
- Korman (senior, Roscoe, Ill.) directed the offense to the tune of 46 assists, while sophomore James Althoff (Kenosha, Wis.) had 19 kills, four service aces, 18 digs and five blocks (two solo). Freshman Andy Ellingham (Burlington, Wis.) added 10 kills, hit .350 and had five blocks in the win.
- Sophomore Cody Sciabica (Henderson, Nev.) and junior Blake Schwandt (Kenosha, Wis.) combined for 18 kills and nine blocks. Freshman Dylan Griffith (Middleton, Wis.) had a team-high 19 digs and sophomore Turner Fuhrer (Kenosha, Wis.) dug 15 attack attempts.
- Marian had four players with double-digit kills and Jacob Jurney posted a double-double with 14 kills and 18 digs.
