MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's basketball team leveled the season series against the Raiders of the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Wednesday night. The Falcons picked up an 85-75 victory over MSOE to improve to 8-8 on the year and 6-5 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
The Falcons led wire-to-wire on Wednesday with sophomore Casey Verhagen (Sheboygan, Wis.) starting the scoring on a layup 13 seconds into the contest.
A layup from junior Logan Landers (Cedarburg, Wis.) pushed the CUW lead up to 11-2 with 16:29 left in the first half.
Six straight from Landers elevated the Concordia lead to 19-4 at the 13:19 mark of the half.
The Raiders rallied and cut the CUW lead to 12 points on two occasions in the half.
Sophomore Mehki Sutton (San Diego, Calif.) sank a jumper to give the Falcons their biggest lead of the night at 46-22 with 1:19 left in the half.
Concordia waltzed into halftime with a 46-25 lead.
Concordia pushed the lead to 24 points again in the second half with baskets from Sutton and Verhagen.
The Blue and White held a lead of 20 or more points for a majority of the second half.
MSOE closed the final 100 seconds on a 9-0 run to close the final gap.
Logan Landers led the contest with 23 points and eight rebounds.
Sophomore Matt Merlo (Random Lake, Wis.) finished with 19 points and Casey Verhagen finished with 18 points, and a game-high four assists and three steals.
The Falcons head across the lake and with face Concordia Ann Arbor of NAIA in a non-conference contest.
