MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's basketball team hung with Northern Michigan of NCAA Division II in an exhibition contest.
The Wildcats held the lead for a majority of the first half.
A three-point basket from sophomore Jacob Christjohn (Milwaukee, Wis.) gave Concordia a 26-25 lead with 2:46 left in the half.
A pair of free throws from sophomore Mekhi Sutton (San Diego, Calif.) clipped the Northern Michigan lead to 29-28 at halftime.
A three-point basket from senior Jonah Jurss (Sheboygan, Wis.) gave the Blue and White a 34-31 lead with 17:48 left.
A jump shot from Mekhi Sutton pushed the CUW lead up to 53-51 with 7:26 left in the game.
The Green and Gold used an 18-2 run to earn some separation late.
CUW had 10 different student-athletes score on Saturday. Sophomore Matt Merlo (Random Lake, Wis.) led Concordia with 11 points.
Sophomore Casey Verhagen (Sheboygan, Wis.) led CUW with six assists.
The Falcons return to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play on Wednesday at Aurora.
