Falcons Fall to Dominican

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Concordia University Wisconsin men's basketball team dropped a 90-72 decision to Dominican University on Saturday, falling to 7-8 overall and 5-5 in Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) play.

Dominican jumped out to an early 17-9 lead in the first half, setting the tone for much of the game.

The Falcons fought back, trimming the deficit to just one point as freshman Luke Eggemeyer (Perryville, Mo.) converted a fast-break layup off a steal by junior Jack Fritz (Columbus, Wis.), with sophomore Jacob Christjohn (Milwaukee, Wis.) providing the assist.

Despite their efforts, Concordia's momentum was short-lived as Dominican consistently found ways to stifle the Falcons' rallies and maintain their lead. By halftime, the Stars had extended their advantage to a double-digit margin, leading 45-34.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with CUW unable to string together a sustained run to close the gap. Slowly but surely, the Stars continued to build on their lead, ultimately securing a 90-72 victory.

In the loss, sophomore Casey Verhagen (Sheboygan, Wis.) led the Falcons with 21 points, while sophomore Mekhi Sutton (San Diego, Calif.) and Eggemeyer added 10 points each. Off the bench, Fritz contributed eight points and one steal in the effort.

The Falcons will look to bounce back when they host MSOE on Wednesday, January 22.
