Falcons Downed by Green Knights

DE PERE, Wis. - Concordia men's basketball saw a halt to its streak of momentum on Wednesday night, falling to the St. Norbert Green Knights after winning five of its last six games. The 84-52 loss saw scoring contributions from 13 different Falcons, including seniors Freeman Jackson (Green Bay, Wis.) and Gabe Pruss (North Fond du Lac, Wis.), who both notched double-digit performances.

Concordia put up a strong fight with the reigning NACC Tournament champions in the game's early going, as senior Sam Meerstein (Green Bay, Wis.) collected the opening points of the game. As the Green Knights battled back, the Falcons regained the lead just under five minutes into the contest after a layup from freshman Matt Merlo (Random Lake, Wis.) granted Concordia an 11-10 advantage.

St. Norbert went on a strong scoring run for the remainder of the half, amassing a 26-point lead at the game's midway mark.

The two squads battled into the second half, and it proved to be the Falcons that outscored the Green Knights in the final ten minutes of play. The stretch saw a variety of Falcons' scorers, including two three-pointers from freshman Isaac Seidel (Wausau, Wis.). Fellow freshman Kyle Steiner (Villa Park, Ill.) and sophomore Sean Earley (Hickory Hills, Ill.) each notched their first points in a Concordia uniform in the final minute of play.

Defensively, Concordia tallied eight steals in the effort, as Jackson and senior Zech Hans (Hartland, Wis.) recorded two apiece.

The Falcons will be back on the hardwood against the 8-9 Edgewood Eagles on Jan. 20th.
