WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Falcons fought hard for 45 minutes on Saturday afternoon. The Concordia Wisconsin men's basketball team fell to 0-3 on the young season with a 91-86 overtime victory.
The first half of the game was a back-and-forth affair, with seven ties and five lead changes. The Falcons took the biggest lead of the half into halftime at 42-35 after a three-point basket from freshman Isaac Seidel (Wausau, Wis.).
The Falcons held the lead for the majority of the second half until the Pioneers made a three-point basket with 33 seconds left to take a 76-74 lead.
The Blue and White tied the game with a pair of free throws from senior Gabe Pruss (North Fond du Lac, Wis.). Pruss finished the half with 12 points.
Senior Samuel Meerstein (Green Bay, Wis.) sank a three-point basket to start the Falcons off in overtime and reclaim the lead at 79-78.
Senior Zech Han (Hartland, Wis.) gave CUW the lead at 84-83 with a free throw, but the Pioneers outscored the Falcons, 8-2 in the final 67 seconds of overtime.
Samuel Meerstein led the game with 23 points.
Gabe Pruss finished with a double-double performance with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
The Falcons will rest up and return to action next weekend in Michigan to face Calvin and Hope.
