Falcons Wrap Up the Weekend in Iowa

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Concordia Wisconsin men's basketball team wrapped up the Loras Mike Molstead Motors Tip-Off Classic on Sunday evening. The Duhawks of Loras defended their home court with an 87-75 victory.

Sunday was the second straight day of taking on one of the top-two projected teams in the American Rivers Conference.

A pair of free throws from senior Gabe Pruss (North Fond Du Lac, Wis.) gave the Falcons an early 4-3 lead on Sunday.

The Purple and Gold used a 9-0 run to take the lead up to 17-8, but the Falcons responded with a pair of three-point baskets from senior Samuel Meerstein (Green Bay, Wis.) and junior Adam Bruins (Oak Creek, Wis.) to trim the deficit.

Samuel Meerstein sank a layup right before the break to send the Falcons into halftime trailing, 38-43.

The Duhawks extended their lead and pushed the lead up to 14 points at 60-46.

The Falcons continued to fight and used a 10-0 that was capped off by an old-fashioned three-point play from sophomore Jack Fritz (Columbus, Wis.) to get back into the game.

Loras responded with a run of their own to secure the victory.

Sam Meerstein feasted on Sunday against the Duhawks with 29 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks.

The Falcons return to action on Saturday at Carroll.
