Thomson secures NCHA Weekly Defensive Award

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin freshman goaltender Breanna Thomson has been named the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Thomson (St. Marys, Ontario) made her first two collegiate starts last weekend and responded by helping lead the Falcons to a 1-0-1 record. She made 28 saves in an 8-1 win over Finlandia Friday, her first career start. She followed that performance up with a 26-save game in a 2-2 tie against St. Scholastica.

In the tie against the Saints, Thomson was especially impressive down the stretch, stopping all 12 shots she faced over the third period and overtime session.

Thomson and the Falcons are off this weekend before returning to the ice on December 2 when they begin a two-game set at St. Norbert.
