Women's Hockey falls in NCHA contest against No. 5 Adrian

MEQUON, Wis. – After a scoreless first period, the No. 5 Adrian Bulldogs showed why they are ranked where they are in an NCHA matchup against the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Hockey team Saturday afternoon. Adrian scored four times in the second period compared to once for the Falcons en route to a 6-1 final at the Ozaukee Ice Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first period was scoreless thanks in large part to the play of sophomore goaltender Christina Pattengale (Portage, Mich.). She made 13 first-period saves to keep CUW even through 20 minutes of action.
- Adrian didn't waste time building a lead in the second period as Kristen Lewicki scored twice in a span of 11 seconds, making the score 2-0. Maggie Mitter assisted both goals, while Kaylyn Schroka added a helper on the second, which came 2:04 into the second.
- The Falcons fought back as sophomore Kristen Kennedy (London, Ontario) scored her third goal of the season just 2:08 later, cutting into the Bulldogs lead. Seniors Veronika Metanova (Palatine, Ill.) and Brandi Muller (Anchorage, Alaska) were credited with assists on the play. Metanova now has a point in four straight games.
- Adrian would tack on two more goals in the second period and scored the only two of the third, both coming in the first four minutes of the final stanza, making the final score 6-1.
- Pattengale finished the game with 31 saves for the Falcons. Her counterpart, Brooke Gibson, stopped 17 shots.
- The Falcons penalty kill played well on Saturday. Adrian netted just one power play goal on eight attempts, while CUW as 1-for-7 with the advantage.
THE OPPOSITION
- Schroka and Lewicki led Adrian with four-point efforts, each player scoring twice and adding two assists. Mitter picked up three assists for the Bulldogs.
UP NEXT
- The Falcons are off next weekend before visiting Finlandia on Friday, November 18 for another NCHA showdown. That game is set for a 7:15 p.m. eastern start.
