Softball visits Marian on Tuesday
MEQUON, Wis. - Coming off a
weekend in which they went 3-1 in the state of Illinois, the
Concordia University Wisconsin will continue and end its six-game
road trip on Tuesday when with a doubleheader against Marian
University in Fond du Lac, Wis.
The first of the two games is scheduled to begin at 4
p.m. at Smith Fields, and live stats will be provided for any fans not
making the trip.
CUW (10-10, 5-1 NAC) swept a doubleheader at Concordia
University Chicago on Saturday, downing the Cougars by a combined
16-2 score. The Falcons then split a pair of games
against Benedictine University on Sunday, coming back after a 6-0
defeat in the first game to win 4-1 in the second matchup.
Senior pitcher Danielle Burke (Burlington, Wis.) was
named Northern Athletics Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday,
after going 3-0 with three complete games last week, 19 strikeouts
and a 0.41 ERA. Burke also ranks fourth in the NAC in
strikeouts, fanning 44 batters so far this season.
At the plate, freshman Jessica Liszka (Lindenhurst,
Ill.) continues to lead the Falcons with a .394 batting average, 16
RBI, and seven stolen bases.
MU (8-10, 3-1 NAC) also went 3-1 over the weekend,
splitting a doubleheader against Dominican University on Saturday
before sweeping a two-game set at Alverno College on Sunday.
The Sabres are led by junior Emilie Jansen who ranks second
in the NAC in both RBI (20) and home runs (3).
