Softball hosts Maranatha Baptist Bible in doubleheader on Tuesday

MEQUON, Wis. - Coming off a six-day, 10-game trip to Florida last week, the Concordia University Wisconsin softball team will begin Northern Athletics Conference play against Maranatha Baptist Bible College on Tuesday afternoon at the CUW Softball Complex.

The two games of the doubleheader will begin at approximately 3 and 5 p.m., and both will feature Matt Menzl's live audio play-by-play and live stats.

CUW (5-9) went 3-7 during their time at the NTC Spring Games in Clermont, Fla., a week ago, but went 3-2 over the final five games in the Sunshine State.

Freshman Jessica Liszka (Lindenhurst, Ill.) has had a strong start in the leadoff role for the Falcons, batting .333 with five runs scored, three RBI, and two stolen bases.

Seniors Chelsie Strosina (Burlington, Wis.) and Sarah Cochran (Bloomington, Ill.) have also paced CUW offensively, as Strosina leads the team with a .353 batting average while Cochran has scored four runs off eight hits.

On the mound, sophomore Jamie Schuh (Freedom, Wis.) has posted a stellar 1.31 ERA in 21.1 innings of work so far, surrendering only four earned runs while collecting 13 strikeouts.

Maranatha (4-2) comes into Tuesday on a four-game winning streak, after playing six games in Plymouth, Minn. two weeks ago.

Autumn Peotter has been on fire for the Crusaders, as the junior leads the NAC with a .600 batting average to go with 12 runs scored, nine RBI, and a conference-best 15 stolen bases so far.
