CUW Dean of Students Steve Crook accepts full-time athletics position
MEQUON, Wis.
-- Steve Crook has resigned his position as the Dean of Students at
Concordia University Wisconsin to move into a full-time role as
Assistant Athletic Director for Student Services and Head Softball
Coach.
"We are pleased to make the announcement at this
time," CUW Director of Athletics Dr. Rob Barnhill said. "Steve's
addition will strengthen the recruitment and coaching efforts in
our softball program."
Additionally this move will address some
administrative needs that we have in student services and provide
for greater involvement and inclusion in the governance of
intercollegiate athletics here at CUW," said Barnhill.
The 2012 season will mark Crook's 13th year as head
coach for the softball program. The 2011 Falcons finished with a
best-ever 32-10 record, including a 21-3 Northern Athletics
Conference record.
"I am excited and appreciative of this
opportunity," Crook said. "I look forward to giving the softball
program added attention while continuing to serve the
student-athletes of this university in a variety of ways."
Crook also won Lake Michigan Conference Coach of the
Year honors in 2002 and 2004, and led the Falcons to their first
NCAA playoff appearance in 2006. In addition to coaching softball
since 1999, he has served in Student Life for that same time
period. Most recently, CUW reached the NCAA Tournament in 2009 and
defeated St. Norbert College, 6-3, before its season ended to Alma
College. The Falcons compiled a 25-23 record that season.
He received his Bachelor's Degree in sociology from
UW-Stevens Point in 1990 and his Master's Degree in education from
Concordia University Wisconsin in 1997.
