CUW Concludes First Day of NACC Championships

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Falcons finished day one of the NACC Championships in sixth place with 13 team points. 

Meanwhile, the Raiders of MSOE currently sit in first with 51 points. 

Junior Mitchell Moeller (Cedarburg, Wis.) soared to new heights in the weight throw as he set a personal record with a mark of 17.12 meters, claiming first place and 10 points. 

In the pole vault, junior Nate Waech (West Bend, Wis.) took seventh for two points, clearing a height of 3.91 meters. 

Rounding out the scoring for Concordia was the 4000-distance medley relay team, comprised of freshman Riley Johnson (Cedar Lake, Ind.), freshman Aaron Klug (Arlington, Va.), senior Ryan Klug (Arlington, Va.), and freshman Josh Sipes (Charleston, Ill.) combined for a time of 12:43.94.

Halfway through the heptathlon, freshman Zach Wendland (Green Bay, Wis.) sits fifth with 2,208 points. In the first four events, Wendland took first in the high jump with a height of 1.81 meters and fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.60 seconds. 

Junior Bernie Van Den Heuvel (Valders, Wis.) qualified for the 60-meter hurdles finals, taking third overall and second in his heat with a time of 8.86 seconds. 

Meanwhile, in the open 60-meter dash, sophomore Nick Taylor (West Bend, Wis.) finished with the team's fastest time of 7.78 seconds. 

Leading the Falcons in the high jump was sophomore Mason Knueppel (Jackson, Wis.), with a distance of 5.74 meters. 

Freshman Mason Everts (Saukville, Wis.) led the flock at 17:05.89 in the 5,000-meter dash.  

The Falcons will hit the track to resume the NACC competition tomorrow, starting at 9 a.m.
