Men's Track & Field Competes at UW-Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The CUW men's track and field team took fifth in the Stevens Point Big Dawg Invite Saturday, scoring 37.50 points. UW-Whitewater took the gold as they claimed 181 team points.  

Sophomore Nick Taylor (West Bend, Wis.) led the Falcons in 200-meter dashing, recording a time of 26.09 seconds. 

Meanwhile, in the 400-meter run, freshman Josh Sipes (Palatine, Ill.) led the flock with a time of 57.23 seconds. 

The 800-meter dash saw senior Ryan Klug (Arlington, Va.) record a time of 2:22.62, making him the fastest Falcon in the event. 

Senior Timmy Brey (Cedarburg, Wis.) shined in the 3000-meter run, taking second overall, securing eight team points with a time of 8:45.59. 

Also competing in the distant event was freshman Karl Glick (Boca Raton, Fla.), who scored two points at 16:53.33 in the 5000-meter run. 

Meanwhile, the 60-meter hurdles saw junior Bernie Van Den Heuvel (Valdres, Wis.) record a time of 9.10 seconds, good for fourth place and five team points. 

CUW's 4x400-meter relay team continued to make strides Saturday, as the team comprised of freshman Riley Johnson (Cedar Lake, Ind.), freshman Isaiah Lubner (Campbellsport, Wis.), Ryan Klug, and freshman Aaron Klug (Arlington, Va.) took fifth with a combined time of 3:57.44. Their team scored CUW four team points. 

Coming off his record-setting week, Zach Wendland continued to shine for the Blue and White, taking seventh in the high jump with a height of 1.80 meters. Wendland also led the Falcons in the long jump with a distance of 5.78 meters.  

Behind Wendland were sophomore Mason Knueppel (Jackson, Wis.), Nick Taylor, and Josh Sipes. Knueppel led the Falcons in the triple jump with a mark of 11.38 meters, good for sixth place for three team points. Meanwhile, Ryan Klug took seventh with a distance of 11.29 meters, earning CUW one point with a seventh-place finish. 

Meanwhile, junior Nate Waech (West Bend, Wis.) earned a top-10 finish in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.81 meters.

In the throwing events, junior Mitchell Moeller (Cedarburg, Wis.) led the Falcons in the shot put, finishing in eighth place. 

However, more impressively, Moeller took the gold in the weight throw, with a mark of 16.11 meters, giving the Falcons 10 team points. 

The Blue and White will return to the track next Saturday when they travel to UW-Parkside in their last indoor meet before the indoor NACC Championships.
