Men's Track & Field competes at Private College Championships

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Track & Field team battled both the cold temperatures and other private schools from Wisconsin Saturday at the Private College Championships. The Falcons finished sixth out of 13 teams at the meet hosted by Carroll University.

THE BASICS
- Falcons Score: 69 points (6th of 13)
- Meet Location: Carroll University – Waukesha, Wis.
- Individual Champion: Brandon Goesch (800-meter run – 1:59.01)
- Team Champion: Carthage (146 points)

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons got a strong performance from Goesch (sophomore – Germantown, Wis.) in the 800. He topped the field of 27 competitors in the event by running a 1:59.01.

- Freshman Gavin Falotico (Palatine, Ill.) posted a pair of top-five finishes for the Falcons on Saturday. Falotico was second in the javelin throw after landing a toss of 51.00 meters. He added a fifth-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.75 meters.

- Senior Stephen Bernau (Courtland, Minn.) finished fourth in the 1,500-meter run. Bernau crossed the finish line in 4:13.61. Juniors Zach Ziemann (Jackson, Wis.) and Michael Taylor (Denmark, Wis.) finished seventh and eighth in the event, respectively.

- CUW was strong in the 110-meter hurdles as junior Damon Nick (Slinger, Wis.) and sophomore Silas Hasselbrook (Missoula, Mont.) finished third and fifth in the event. Nick ran a 15.56, while Hasselbrook was just behind with his time of 15.91.

- Nick also found himself in the top five of the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 58.10.

- Freshman Grant Johnson (Oconomowoc, Wis.) posted a pair of top-five finishes in the long and triple jump. Johnson was fourth in the long jump, leaping 5.79 meters. Teammate Logan Goss (junior – Bolingbrook, Ill.), was fifth at 5.58 meters in the event. Johnson went on to finish fourth in the triple jump (12.11 meters), while Goss was sixth (11.73).
