#BlueForPrue event organized for Men's Track & Field Athlete

MEQUON, Wis. – Last weekend, Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Track & Field athlete Mike Prue suffered injuries after a tragic fall when hiking at Devil's Lake State Park.

Prue (Kenosha, Wis.), who has been a key member of the Falcons Track & Field program over the past three seasons, was airlifted to the University of Wisconsin Madison Hospital after suffering a fall of 80-100 feet. Personnel from the Baraboo Fire Department said he appeared to be in pretty good condition, considering the length of the fall. He suffered 20 broken ribs, three vertebrae fractures, a broken scapula and one and a half collapsed lungs from the fall, but miraculously his head was spared major injury. Although he will not need surgery, he will have a challenging recovery to come.

Teammates, friends and coaches visited with Prue and said he was the same entertaining and joyful person when they got to see him on Sunday. On Tuesday, members of the Track & Field program, as well as other students and staff on campus, organized a Blue For Prue event.

"Mike is such a presence on our team and has a fun and spirited attitude," assistant coach Samantha Stark said. "You can see how much he has positively affected his friends, teammates and this school with how many people showed their support for him yesterday with the #blueforprue. He has persevered through nagging hamstring injuries and other difficulties throughout his career that have made him a stronger person to get through something like this."

"We are looking forward to having Mike return to back to good health," added head coach Russ DeLap. "Having him on the track team will be a blessing."

The event carried all day through campus as students were encouraged to Wear Blue for their friend, teammate and classmate. The day concluded with a large group gathering by the Bluff, where they were even able to FaceTime with Prue.
