Falcons Bounce Benedictine with Late Goals

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's soccer team opened Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play on Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons picked up a thrilling 2-0 victory to improve to 3-2-0 on the year and 1-0-0 in the NACC.

The Falcons were able to weather the storm in the first half where the reigning NACC Defensive Player of the Week, sophomore Jeremy Munoz (Milwaukee, Wis.) collected eight saves.

The Blue and White had great opportunities in the first half as well, but could not convert.

Concordia Wisconsin finally broke through in the 84th minute when freshman Vladimir Campos (Milwaukee, Wis.) was waiting in front of the net off a sharp-angled pass from junior Alishan Sharipov (Krasnodar, Russia).

Alishan Sharipov put the bow on the victory when he danced past the defender and scored with 13 seconds left in the contest.

The Falcons held a 16-14 advantage in shots on Wednesday.

Alishan Sharipov led CUW with two shots on goal.

Today was the first time since 2009 that Benedictine has lost its NACC opener.

The Falcons look to continue the win streak on Saturday at Aurora.
