Late-game heroics lift Men's Hockey to thrilling win at St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn. – With 49 seconds remaining in regulation, the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Hockey team took a timeout trailing 2-1 against the College of St. Scholastica. Whatever head coach Jasen Wise said during that timeout must have worked because the Falcons would score with 32 seconds left in regulation to tie and then struck with five seconds left in regulation for a come from behind 3-2 victory. Taylor Gauld won it for the Falcons, while Adam Fauchoux delivered the game-tying score.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Fauchoux (Prince Alberta, Saskatchewan) scored the equalizer with 32 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime. His fifth goal of the season was assisted by sophomore Nicholas Erb (London, Ontario) and freshman Josh Adkins (Victoria, British Columbia).

- Gauld (Whitby, Ontario) would tally his first game-winner of the season with just five seconds left in overtime. The Saints were whistled for a penalty with 10 seconds left and the Falcons struck five seconds into the power play for the game's lone power play tally. Freshman Dante Hahn (Victoria, British Columbia) picked up his team-leading 14th assist on the game-winner.

- The game's first three goals all came in the second period. The Saints went up 1-0 just 2:43 into the second on a score from Mike Nolan. Sophomore Eric Therrien (Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan) tied things up at 1-1 at the 8:33 mark of the second with an unassisted score.

- St. Scholastica would take a 2-1 lead going into the second intermission thanks to a score from Nolan Ross with 8:15 left in the second.

- Sophomore Jack Romanuik (Melfort, Saskatchewan) made 15 saves in gaining his ninth win of the season. The Falcons dominated possession with 38 shots as the Saints Zane Steeves finished with 35 saves.

- For the first time in program history, the Falcons spent no time in the penalty box. The Saints were whistled four times and the Falcons finished the night 1-for-4 on the power play.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons set a program record for wins in a season with their 12th win Friday. It beats last year's team who finished 11-12-3.

- Nearly one year to the date CUW defeated St. Scholastica at home by a 3-2 score thanks to a goal scored with eight seconds left in overtime. The Falcons accomplished that feat on February 5 of last season.
