Romanuik collects second NCHA Defensive Weekly honor of season

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Sophomore Jack Romanuik has been named the NCHA Men's Defensive Player of the Week for the events of January 2-8, the league office announced Tuesday.

Romanuik (Melfort, Saskatchewan) made 65 saves over a pair of 4-3 NCHA wins over Lawrence last weekend. The sophomore was at his best Saturday night in a road victory, as he stopped 37 shots for his eighth win of the season.

Romanuik, who was already the Falcons career leader in wins, became the first goaltender in program history to record eight wins in a season. He ranks second in the NCHA in saves (303) and winning percentage (.773).

Romanuik and the Falcons will return to action this weekend with another home-and-home NCHA series. The Falcons will take on rival Marian, beginning with a road tilt Friday at 7 p.m. The Falcons will then host the Sabres Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Ozaukee Ice Center.
