Carroll trips up CUW men 80-75
Waukesha
Host Carroll dominated the boards and shot a blistering 60% from
the floor in handing CUW an 80-75 defeat in the championship game
of the Pioneer Classic this afternoon.
The scoring balance that helped Concordia dominate their first two
opponents was not present this time as only Edward Newton-Kemp (33)
and Luke Doedens (19) points were able to provide significant
Falcon offense. Both Kemp and Doedens made the 5 man all
tournament squad.
The Pioneers broke CUW's trapping defense for layups on some
occasions, relied on terrific (9 of 14) 3 point shooting on others,
and got some beneficial whistles down the stretch.
"I was extremely proud of our effort this weekend," said head coach
Shawn Cassidy.
"We learned a little bit more about ourselves and now have some
time to make the changes to be a better team the next time we
play."
Kemp collected 6 rebounds to lead Falcon stats in that department
but Carroll's Paul Grosshuesch had a dozen rebounds and hit 8 of 9
shots from close in on the way to a 23 point performance.
