CUW Men’s Basketball Preview 2010-11

Mequon

The Falcons are coming off a regular season NAC North championship with a 10-6 conference record and 15-11 overall mark. The 2009-10 season included victories over Division II UW- Parkside and a C.I.T. Championship; the second in the last three years for Concordia. CUW's season ended abruptly in a first round conference tournament loss to Dominican University.

Coach Shawn Cassidy lost three key senior starters from last season but returns nine players who played significant roles in last year's success.

Seniors Cory Stark, Skip Newton-Kemp, Tyler Granrath, and Krei Meier look to lead the Falcons.

Juniors Nick Doedens, Matt Paluchniak, David Lopez, and Zach Neumann join 2009-2010 Honorable Mention All-Conference guard Mitch Schneider (11.6ppg, 4.5 rpg) to build on last year's success. Junior D2 transfer Luke Doedens brings additional athleticism to the Falcon squad.

Other contributions will come from sophomore point guard Bryan Donaldson and a strong post presence off the bench from Matt Parrent, Steve Zielinski, and Brian Jackson.

Coach Cassidy's team looks to use their experience, depth, and athleticism to make another push at a NAC conference championship.

"I like the way our team has come together over the past few years. Every year we get closer as a team which is evident by our style of play. We are extremely unselfish and enjoy playing together. I think we are going to be a fun team to watch," commented Cassidy. "We need to stay healthy and play Concordia Team basketball consistently throughout each individual game and over the course of the season."
