Esports battles through the beginning of the week

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW esports team continues to chug along through the long spring season. To open the week, CUW competed in Fortnite, Call of Duty, Star Craft 2, Rainbow 6 Siege and Rocket League.

On Monday night, CUW competed in Fortnite solos play. Junior Aidan O'Donnell led CUW in 232nd place on the night with 389 points.

In Fortnite trios play, the team of sophomore Austin Lichtenstein, Kodee Keys and Aidan O'Donnell finished in 138th place with 230 points.

The Falcons competed in Rocket League on Monday and defeated Bethel, 3-0. The Falcons secured a 5-4, 3-1, 6-3 victory. Junior Austin Esterly led the flock with eight goals. The Falcons also fell, 3-1 to Upper Iowa.

The CUW Call of Duty team closed the regular season with a 3-0 victory over Iowa. The Falcons downed the Hawkeyes, 250-154, 6-1, 3-2.

Rainbow Six Seige team recorded a 2-0 victory to get back in the win column over Peninsula.

Senior Andrew Gordan continued to battle in Star Craft, but fell short with an 0-2 loss to PiLPili with Zerg.

"I was scheduled to play against a top Zerg player the first round, but he did not show up, and the second round I was matched against PiLiPiLi, who is a pro Protoss player," said Gordan. "The first game he used a strategy I have never even heard of, and the second game he prevented me from scouting him as he rushed me. It did not seem that I was TOO far behind for most of both games, but he managed to catch me off guard in both. I am hoping that since I made it into Master League, I will start to be more prepared for the pro players that I keep getting matched against."

The Falcons return to the arena on Thursday night.
