Volleyball selected seventh in NACC Preseason Poll

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin's volleyball team was selected to finish seventh in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference in a vote by the league's head coaches and athletic communicators.

CUW received 134 points in the poll. It returns 11 student-athletes who saw significant playing time a season ago, but also have many freshmen on the training camp roster. The Falcons ended last year's campaign with an 8-24 overall record and a 5-7 mark in conference play.

Benedictine University was chosen to the win the league with 16 first-place votes out of a possible 24, to go along with 280 points. The Eagles were co-champions last season. Dominican University had three first-place votes and 255 points, while Edgewood College received five first-place votes and 251 points to predict second and third place, respectively.

A year ago, the Falcons were selected to finish in seventh place and finished one spot lower in the league standings.

CUW begins its season on Aug. 31 when it hosts Concordia University Ann Arbor and Concordia University Chicago in the Concordia Invitational Tournament at the R. John Buuck Field House.

Teams in the NACC begin play Aug. 30, while the conference schedule starts on Sept. 10. The NACC Tournament takes place from Nov. 5, 7 and 9, with the tournament champion receiving the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
