Women's Track & Field Performs Well at North Central

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Concordia University Wisconsin women's track and field team concluded the second day of competition at the North Central 1st Chance Invite with several standout performances across multiple events.

The 4x100 meter relay was a highlight, as the team of senior Maya Hielscher (Macomb, Mich.), freshman Jacey Read (Carbondale, Colo.), freshman Natiya Ballard (Stoughton, Wis.), and senior Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.) finished second overall with a time of 49.49 seconds.

Hielscher continued her strong performance in the 100-meter hurdles, taking second place with a time of 15.37 seconds. In the 400-meter hurdles, sophomore Olivia Ebel (Mt. Clemens, Mich.) placed sixth overall, clocking in at 1:10.93.

In the 200-meter race, Read finished fifth with a time of 25.95 seconds, while Hielscher also had a solid showing in the long jump, securing eighth place with a leap of 5.18 meters.

The Falcons excelled in the jumping events, particularly the triple jump, where freshman Amiyah Jackson (Beaver Dam, Wis.) claimed first place with a mark of 11.35 meters. Junior Kate Kotula (Wyomissing, Pa.) added to the success, finishing seventh with a jump of 10.39 meters.

In the 1500-meter race, junior Melanie Arvis (Berwyn, Ill.) dominated, taking first place with a time of 4:50.36. Junior Danielle Van Grinsven (Appleton, Wis.) also had a strong showing, finishing fourth in 4:56.42.

The pole vault saw sophomore Caitlyn Weitzel (Fallston, Md.) clear a height of 3.21 meters to finish fourth, while sophomore Emma Eilertson (Mukwonago, Wis.) also placed fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.54 meters.

Freshman Annabelle Gonnering (West Bend, Wis.) led the Falcons in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in 2:38.47.

In the shot put, sophomore Bryanna Mursch (Grafton, Wis.) led Concordia in her heat, taking eighth place, while sophomore Morgan Fueker (Mount Pleasant, Wis.) finished second in her heat.

In the discus, freshman Madysen Gonzagowski (Madison, Wis.) led the Falcons in her heat, finishing sixth.

Looking ahead, the Falcons will next compete at the Wisconsin Private University Championships next Saturday.
