Falcons Open the 2024-25 Campaign at Ripon
RIPON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's track & field team opened the 2024-25 season on Saturday morning at the Ripon Winter Open. The Falcons finished in fifth place as a team with 51 points. The Pioneers of Carroll picked up the victory with 189 points.
The Falcons took the crown in the 4x200-meter relay on Saturday. The team of senior Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.), sophomore Emma Eilertson (Mukwonago, Wis.), senior Maya Hielscher (Macomb, Mich.) and freshman Jacey Read (Carbondale, Colo.) was nearly 18 seconds faster than Edgewood in second place at 1:50.89. CUW's time also set the program record in the 4x200-meter relay.
Jacey Read shined in the 60-meter dash and qualified for the finals after a second-place time of 8.04 in the prelims. She then finished in second place in the finals at 7.99. CUW also had five other runners with Sabrina Moore in 14th place at 8.27, freshman Natiya Ballard (Stoughton, Wis.) in 21st place at 8.51, freshman Amiyah Jackson (Beaver Dam, Wis.) in 37th place at 9.05, sophomore Caitlyn Weitzel (Fallston, Md.) in 39th place at 9.11 and sophomore Nina Alft (Kimberley, Wis.) in 40th place at 9.45.
Sophomore Olivia Ebel (Mt. Clemens, Mich.) earned a third-place time of 2:31.57 in the 800-meter run.
In the 60-meter hurdles, Maya Hielscher qualified for the finals and finished in third place at 9.53. Emma Eilertson finished in 10th place at 10.87 and Nina Alft was in 15th place at 11.94.
Seven Falcons competed in the weight throw on Saturday. Sophomore Bryanna Mursch (Grafton, Wis.) led the charge in third place at 12.25 meters. Senior Jamie Maas (West Bend, Wis.) added a point in eighth place at 11.27 meters. Junior Kailey Ramaker (Cedarburg, Wis.) finished 10th at 10.91 meters, sophomore Morgan Feuker (Mount Pleasant, Wis.) was 15th at 10.05 meters, freshman Makenna Herbrand (Fond du Lac, Wis.) was 16th at 10.04 meters, sophomore Paige Schreiber (Dousman, Wis.) was 20th at 9.22 meters and freshman Madysen Gonzagowski (Madison, Wis.) was 23rd at 7.08 meters.
Natiya Ballard reached 10.03 meters in the triple jump in fourth place.
Maya Hielscher also scored two points in the long jump in seventh place at 4.77 meters. Sabrina Moore was 17th at 3.71 meters.
Paige Schreiber led the Falcons in the shot put competition in eighth place at 10.88 meters in eighth place. CUW also had Morgan Feuker in 10th place at 10.23 meters, Kailey Ramaker in 14th place at 9.39 meters, Makenna Herbrand in 15th place at 9.38 meters, Bryanna Mursch at 9.37 meters in 16th place, Jamie Maas in 19th place at 9.01 meters and Madysen Gonzagowski in 22nd place at 8.52 meters.
Caitlyn Weitzel represented Concordia in the pole vault competition and finished in 11th place at 2.60 meters.
In the high jump competition, Emma Eilertson added four points in fifth place at 1.46 meters. Nina Alft ended in ninth place at 1.31 meters.
The Falcons return to action on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the North Central Pat Heenan Invite.
