Women's Track & Field finishes second at NACC Outdoor Championships

LISLE, Ill. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Track & Field posted several strong showings over the past two days at the NACC Outdoor Championships. The Falcons received a Track Athlete of the Meet performance from Nora Imperl, the third of her career. In addition, CUW saw four school records set and one meet record fall while the Falcons also had five individual champions at the conference meet. Head coach Russ De Lap was named Co-Coach of the Meet as well.

THE BASICS
- Falcons Finish: 2nd of 10 (214 points)
- School Records: Moira Kilgas (100 Hurdles); Sam Meixell (Heptathlon); Colleen Sauvey (Hammer Throw); 4X100-meter relay (Jennifer Miller, Tristiana March, Irene Bolis, Sauvey)
- Meet Records: Taylor Corkum (Pole Vault)
- Individual Champions: Cassandra Sprotte (800; 1,500); Imperl (3,000 Steeplechase); Corkum (Pole Vault); Sauvey (Hammer Throw).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Imperl, who won the Track Athlete of the Meet at last year's outdoor meet and this year's indoor meet as well, scored 27 points over four events to secure this year's honor. She won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:55.18. Imperl added third-place finishes in the 800 and 1,500-meter runs while finishing fourth in the 5,000-meter run.

- Sprotte (Abbotsford, Wis.) won two events, a feat she also accomplished at the Indoor Championships in February. She posted wins in both the 800 and 1,500-meter runs with times of 2:18.30 and 4:45.16, respectively. Molly Wirtz (Stevens Point, Wis.) finished fifth in both events while Paulina Agnello (Brookfield, Wis.) was fourth in the 1,500. The Falcons also received two top-five finishes from Hannah Erl (Wauwatosa, Wis.) in distance events, third in the 10,000 and fifth in the 5,000. Martha Kulberg (Maple Grove, Minn.) was second in the 10,000 with a time of 40:55.31.

- Another NACC meet and another impressive showing from the Falcons women's pole vault crew. CUW placed four in the top five led by Corkum (Wauwatosa, Wis.). She set the meet record by clearing 3.55 meters. Jennifer Miller (Freedom, Wis.) was third while Ariana Koehler (Lake Geneva, Wis.) and Kailey Koehler (Lake Geneva, Wis.) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

- Sauvey (De Pere, Wis.) set the school record with a win in the hammer throw, landing a toss of 49.72 meters. She was also a part of the school-record setting 4X100-meter relay team, joining Miller, March (Janesville, Wis.) and Bolis (Marengo, Ill.). Those four posted a time of 50.11, good for second in the event.

- CUW had two athletes break the previous school record in the 100-meter hurdles. Moira Kilgas (Omro, Wis.) broke her own record and still holds the mark after running a 16.4. Bolis also broke the previous time, running a 16.44. Bolis added a fourth-place finish in the 400 hurdles.

- The final school record for the Falcons came from Meixell (Rochester, Minn.) in the heptathlon. She scored 3,299 points in the event and won the 800-meter dash between heptathlon athletes.

- Morgan Marnholtz (Merrill, Wis.) gained three top-five finishes, led by a second-place effort in the 400. She was third in the triple jump and fifth in the high jump, an event which Nicole Veldhorst (Cedar Grove, Wis.) placed second in. Briana Gratz (Farimont, Minn.) added a fifth-place effort in the 400.

- Chloe Eckstein (Reedsville, Wis.) placed second in the discus throw, landing at 37.03 meters. The Falcons also received fifth-place finishes in two other throwing events. Beth Garncarz (Milwaukee, Wis.) was fifth in the shot put while Christine Swoboda (Chippewa Falls, Wis.) placed fifth in the javelin throw. Adding a fifth-place finish for the Falcons was March in the long jump.
