Straehler’s OT goal lifts CUW over Marian in women’s soccer

Lauren Straehler notched the game winner just two minutes into overtime as Concordia got an important 2-1 win over Marian last evening at Fitting Field.

The host Falcons had to play from behind early as Marian's Jade Koeune scored less than ten minutes into the match.

Concordia got the equalizer before halftime when Beccky Ott redirected Abby Hoeflich's chip into the net.

CUW controlled play from that point on, outshooting Marian 23-13 but Sabre goalie Tiffany Erdman kept her team in the game with 10 saves before Straehler buried a corner kick from Renee Hecker for the deciding tally.

Ryan Middendorf's team improved to 7-7-1 on the season and 4-4-1 in the NAC while dropping Marian to 7-3-0 in league play.

Tonight the CUW men host undefeated UW- Oshkosh (13-0-1) at 4:00.
