Dominican stays undefeated

Lisle, Il

CUW did not get the win they sorely needed Saturday, falling 2-1 to host Dominican in the most critical match of the 2009 season. The Stars (7-0-0 in the NAC) recovered from an early 1-0 deficit to defeat Concordia (6-1-2 in league play).

Lauren Straehler got the Falcon goal on a penalty kick after Becky Ott was fouled in the box. The Stars got back to even by halftime and earned what proved to be the game-winner off a direct kick early in the second half.

"It was an evenly fought match and we had several quality chances down the stretch. I can't fault the effort...just the result. We need to win the rest and stay in that top 4 grouping to set ourselves up for the tournament," emphasized Coach Ryan Middendorf.
