Ambrocio, Sanders qualify for second day of Pete Wilson Wheaton Invitational
70th Pete Wilson Wheaton Invitaitonal Results --
Day One
WHEATON, Ill. - Sean Ambrocio and Greg Sanders
advanced to the second day of the 70th Annual Pete Wilson Wheaton
Invitational. With 31 teams competing and hundreds of wrestlers,
Concordia University Wisconsin faced difficult competition and sit
in 26th place overall as a team.
Sanders (freshman, San Antonio, Texas) earned an
opening round 10-1 major decision victory over UW-Parkside's Arik
Yde, before falling to Justin Kieffer (Indianapolis) by decision,
6-5. The 141-pounder responded in the wrestle-back portion of the
bracket with three dominating victories. He won by fall (3:25),
technical fall (17-2, 6:21) and major decision (14-2) to stay
alive.
Ambrocio (freshman, San Antonio, Texas) fell 8-3,
before earning wins by decision (12-6, 7-5) to advance in the
wrestle-back portion of the 125-pound bracket.
The freshman duo are the only two remaining CUW
wrestlers alive for Saturday's Invitaitonal.
Sophomore Set Kilkelly (Mt. Horeb, Wis.) and freshman
Ricky Burns (El Paso, Texas) also earned wins by decision for the
Falcons.
CUW concludes the Pete Wilson Wheaton Invitational on
Saturday.
