Falcon wrestlers 8th at Elmhurst Invitational

The CUW wrestling team (1-1 overall, 0-1 Conference) placed 8th in the 14-team 'Al Hanke' Elmhurst Invitational last Saturday with 41 points. Three Falcons placed sixth in their respective weight classes to lead the team. Elmhurst captured the title with Harper College taking second.

Steve Taylor (Fr., Litchfield Park, AZ) finished 4-2 on the day and placed sixth at 141 lbs. All four of his wins came by pin and he now leads the team with 12 pins on the season.

That ties the CUW school season pin record of 12 set by Sam Rugg (CUW '05), Nick Bottcher (CUW '06), and Paul Manning (CUW '06). Taylor moved to 12-12 on the season.

David Tuomi (Fr., Melrose Park, IL) took 6th at 141 lbs., finishing 4-3 on the day to push his season record to 10-13.

Kurt Kemnitz (So., West Allis, WI) was also 6th at 133 lbs., going 3-3 on the day and he is now 13-13 on the season.

Chris Hamberger (Fr., Clintonville, WI) picked up two wins, including one by fall, to move to 4-8 at 157 lbs.

The Falcons next travel to Lakeland for a conference dual on Wednesday, January 20. The dual begins at 7:00pm.
