Kalamazoo Stings Women's Lacrosse

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The CUW women's lacrosse team fell short in Michigan on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference game at Kalamazoo. The Hornets protected their hive with an 18-6 victory to improve to 6-3 on the year.

Sophomore Eliana Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.) crashed the net and threw the ball past the Kalamazoo keeper for the first goal of the game.

Sophomore Oliva Niego (La Grange, Ill.) broke to her right and ran past two defenders before she threw the ball into the back of the net to push the lead up to two goals.

The Hornets scored the final goal of the first quarter to make it a 2-1 game.

Eliana Fuchs broke a 2-2 tie when she showed her speed and used a side-armed shot to give the Falcons the lead.

The Hornets scored three goals in a 50-second span to take a 5-3 lead.

Freshman Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) scored on a free position shot as time expired in the second quarter.

The Hornets stung the Falcons with six goals in the third quarter.

Eliana Fuchs scored the lone third-quarter goal on a free position shot.

The Black and Orange pushed the lead up to 12-5.

Junior Colleen Gilligan (Colborne, Ont.) scored in the fourth quarter on a free position shot.

Kalamazoo held a 30-16 advantage in shots on Sunday. Eliana Fuchs led the flock with seven shots.

Freshman Madisen Myers (Rosemount, Minn.) posted 12 saves on Sunday afternoon.

Colleen Gilligan caused three turnovers and six ground balls against the Hornets.

The Falcons open NACC play on Wednesday against Concordia Chicago.
