Falcons Falter in Matchup with Firebirds

MEQUON, Wis. – The Carthage Firebirds traveled north to Fitting Field to take on the Falcons in some women's lacrosse action.

This was the first game for the Falcons in 12 days with their Spring Break matchups getting canceled.

The Firebirds came out hot with seven unanswered goals in the first six minutes of play.

Sophomore Savannah Schweiger (Eagle, Wis.) netted the lone Falcon goal of the half with an assist from fellow sophomore Eliana Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.).

Carthage netted four more goals in the first quarter and seven in the second to head into halftime with an 18-1 advantage.

The Firebirds jumped out quickly in the second half with their first goal within the first minute to take the 19-1 lead.  They snagged their second of the quarter seven minutes later to take the 20-1 lead.

The flock went into the fourth quarter with a 20-goal deficit.

The Firebird scored two more goals in the fourth quarter to close out the matchup 23-1.

Sophomore Anna Gong (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the Falcons with three shots.

The flock heads to St. Mary's for the first of a two-game away stint.
