Fourth Quarter Foils Falcons

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW women's lacrosse team opened NACC play on Wednesday evening against the Cougars of Concordia Chicago. The Cougars collected an 11-5 victory to improve to 3-5 and 1-0 in the NACC.

The Cougars scored the lone goal in the first quarter.

Sophomore Elina Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.) scored the only CUW goal off a pass from freshman Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.).

CUC held a 3-1 lead going into halftime.

Sophomore Andra Hansen (Seattle, Wash.) started the third quarter scoring on a free position shot.

Two minutes later, sophomore Olivia Niego (La Grange, Ill.) scored on a free position shot.

The Cougars scored the next two goals to retake the lead.

With 7:07 left, sophomore Savannah Schweiger (Eagle, Wis.) found the back of the net.

Andra Hansen tied the game off a pass from Olivia Niego.

The Cougars outscored the Falcons 6-0 in the fourth quarter.

Freshman Madisen Myers (Rosemount, Minn.) collected 15 saves and four ground balls on Wednesday.

Elina Fuchs led CUW with seven shots, three caused turnovers and four ground balls.

CUW looks to bounce back at Beloit.
