Women’s Hockey sweeps Aurora

WEST DUNDEE, Ill. – Natasha Wanless and Maddy Millar led the Falcons with a pair of goals each as Concordia Wisconsin completed the sweep of Aurora with a 5-1 win on Saturday night. 

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Wanless (Madison, Wis.) got the Falcons off to a fast start with an unassisted goal 27 seconds into regulation. The goal was her third consecutive in the series, following two third-period goals in the series opener on Friday.
-The Spartans got on the board late in the first with an unassisted goal by Lexie Martinez. Aurora would not score again.
-The Falcons began a 4-0 run to close out the game late in the second period. Wanless capitalized on a power-play opportunity to score the game-winner at 14:46 in the frame. Kristen Kennedy (London, Ontario) and Ellie Woodman (Janesville, Wis.) assisted with the game-winner.
-Millar (Anchorage, Alaska) added another goal in the final minute of the second period, with Wanless and Kennedy assisting.
-Madi Chapman (Rogers, Minn.) scored early in the third to add to the Falcon lead, as Maddie Schultz (River Falls, Wis.) and Vyctoria Smith (Fort Meyers, Fla.) assisted.
-Millar scored her second goal of the game a minute after Chapman for the final goal of the game.
-Christina Pattengale (Portage, Mich.) had 14 saves for the Falcons. Chiara Pfosi had 22 in net for the Spartans.
-The Falcons outshot the Spartans 27-15.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
-This was the fourth game between Concordia Wisconsin and Aurora in program history. The Falcons are 3-1-0 in the series with a three-game winning streak.
-The Falcons outscored the Spartans 9-2 in the two-game series.

UP NEXT
-The Falcons return home to face St. Scholastica in a two-game series starting on Friday, January 25, at 7:30pm.
