Falcons Down Scarlet Hawks 

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW women's basketball team took on the Scarlet Hawks of IIT in an Alumni day matchup. 

The Falcons took a quick lead off of a made layup by senior Camryn Szolyga (Waukesha, Wis.).  The Falcons never looked back and held the Scarlet Hawks without the lead for the rest of the game. 

The Falcons ended the first quarter on an 11-0 run with four of the 11 coming from junior Kathryn Kirkwood (Milwaukee, Wis.). 

The Falcons went on a 10-7 run out of the first break to take the 29-13 lead off of a made layup by Kirkwood. 

The flock went into the half with two made layups by junior Reagan Obry (Neenah, Wis.) to take a 16-point lead at 37-21. 

In the third quarter, it was all junior Lindsey Smitsdorff (Coon Rapids, Minn.) all day.  She knocked down 5-6 field goals and recorded 13 points in the quarter.  The Falcons went into the last break with a 61-35 lead. 

The Falcons scored 17 points in the fourth quarter and ended the game with a final score of 78-45. 

Smitsdorff led the Falcons with 15 total points and was followed by sophomore Erin Viergutz (Clintonville, Wis.) with 11. 

Senior Aubrey Buchholtz (Seymour, Wis.) led the Falcons with nine rebounds and freshman Lindsey Lonigro (Deerfield, Wis.) recorded six assists. 

The Falcons move to 4-1 in the NACC after a 51.5 percent shooting afternoon. 

They look to take on Wheaton in a non-conference matchup on December 30^th.
