Perkins pitching earns NACC Student-Athlete of the Week award

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin junior Melissa Perkins has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday night. Perkins award covers the events from March 23-29.

During that span, the Park Forest, Ill. native threw nine innings in a doubleheader sweep against Alverno College, posting a 0.78 ERA. She tossed a complete game in the opener against the Inferno, striking out four, while allowing just one earned run. Perkins then came on for two perfect innings of relief in a game two victory.

On Monday Perkins continued her strong start to the conference season with a complete game win against MSOE. Monday's games were not were not counted in yesterday's NACC Student Athlete of the Week's voting system, but would rather go for next week's award.

Perkins and the Falcons will be back in action Thursday in a non-conference home doubleheader at the CUW Softball Field. CUW will host Finlandia beginning at 3 p.m.
