Men's Cross Country fourth at rainy NACC Championships

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Cross Country team battled the rainy conditions and the rest of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Saturday at the league championships. The Falcons fared well on their home course, finishing fourth.

THE BASICS

Falcons score: 105 points (Taylor – 18th, Bernau – 19th, Fell – 24th, Linse – 29th, Neuwirth – 30th)
Location: Concordia University Wisconsin – Mequon, Wis.
Team Champion: Aurora University (33 points)

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Junior Michael Taylor (Denmark, Wis.) became the sixth different Falcon to lead the team as the top finisher on Saturday. He finished 18th with a time of 28:00.5.

- Senior Stephen Bernau (Courtland, Minn.) was next in line for the Falcons as he completed the 8K course in a time of 28:15.3. He was followed by fellow senior, Adam Fell (Mundelein, Ill.) who posted a time of 28:21.4.

OTHER FALCONS

- CUW had a total of nine runners compete on Saturday as they unfortunately dealt with injuries heading into the NACC meet. There were no PRs, however the difficult conditions certainly played a factor in that.

THE RACE

- Aurora captured the team title by scoring 33 points and having seven runners earn All-NACC honors. MSOE and Wisconsin Lutheran finished second and third, respectively.

UP NEXT

- The Falcons will return to action in two weeks at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regionals. The men's race, which will follow the women's race, is slated for a noon start at the meet hosted by Augustana College.
