Women's Lacrosse has seven players earn All-MWLC honors

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin midfielder Lauren Paquin was named Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Co-Midfielder of the Year, the league office announced Thursday. The Falcons had seven players earn All-MWLC honors.

Paquin (Waukesha, Wis.) earned Co-Midfielder of the Year for the first time in her career and All-MWLC First Team accolades as well. She totaled 54 goals and picked up 69 ground balls on the season to go along with a team high 67 points. Paquin ranked third in conference in goals scored and ranked second in ground balls. She finished the regular season leading the team in goals, assists, points, and ground balls, 

Junior Ellie Woodman (Janesville, Wis.) earned All-MWLC First Team honors and had her best season yet as a defender with 40 caused turnovers and 57 ground balls. She caused multiple turnovers in 10 games, including six at Augsburg (April 27). Woodman picked up three or more ground balls in 11 games.

Senior Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill.) was tagged with All-MWLC First Team accolades for the fourth time in her career after leading the Falcons with 51 caused turnovers and finishing in the top three on the team in ground balls with 56 and draw controls with 82. The midfielder also had 39 goals and 12 assists.

Senior Caitlin Henry (Lansing, Ill.) was an All-MWLC Second Team honoree with 38 points (29 goals, nine assists), 35 ground balls, 88 draw controls and 30 caused turnovers. The midfielder ranked first on the team in draw controls. Henry scored a career-high-tying five goals during the season against Loras (April 8) and had a hat trick or better four times.

Sophomore Nicole DeMeo (Niles, Ill.) was named Honorable Mention after accumulating 22 goals, which was fifth on the team, to go along with 31 points, nine assists, 27 ground balls, and 15 caused turnovers. She scored a career-high five goals against Loras (April 8) and scored a hat trick or better in three games. 

Freshman Ciara Bond (White Bear Lake, Minn.) was named Honorable Mention after recording 43 points and 9 assists, to go along with 34 goals, 37 ground balls, 21 caused turnovers. The attacker logged a season high six goals against Benedictine (April 11), she recorded three or more goals in seven games throughout the year. 

Senior Kjerstin Saarela (Sun Prairie, Wis.) was tabbed with All-Sportsmanship Team honors after picking up 16 ground balls and causing four turnovers. She also recorded 11 assists which was good enough for second on the team. The attacker logged two or more assist in four games on the season.
