Auggies late offensive surge edges out Women's Lacrosse

St. Paul, Minn. – Concordia Wisconsin took on Augsburg in the MWLC tournament semi-finals, falling victim to a late offensive surge by the Auggies that put the cap on a 12-11 victory over the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons held a two-goal lead with just over six minutes remaining in the game, then the Auggies went on a game clinching three goal outburst that started with 5:37 left in the second half and just over a minute later Augsburg added two more goals to take the lead 12-11. Neither team would be able to get another goal across giving Augsburg the victory and advancing them to the Championship matchup. 
- A back-and-forth contest certainly gave fans an entertaining 60 minutes of Lacrosse. Concordia Wisconsin and Augsburg went down to the wire, as both teams were trying to gain an advantage in a matchup that would decide who would continue their season. The Falcons struck first, as junior Lauren Paquin (Waukesha, Wis.) put the momentum in CUW's corner. Unfortunately, the Auggies came right back on a free position shot form Izzy Snow that tied the game up at 1-1. 
- Both teams would continue to trade scores, as the dust settled at the end of the first half the two teams were tied 7-7. The second half was much of the same, as Concordia Wisconsin was able to put together two straight goals to give the Falcons a slight 11-9 lead with 6:16 to go.
- Paquin and sophomore Nicole DeMeo (Niles, Ill.) both had hat-tricks, while junior Kristen Kennedy (London, Ontario) had one goal and one assist and Senior Caitlin Henry (Lansing, Ill.) chipped in two goals. Sophomore Kennedy Boyer (Saline, Mich.) made 16 saves during 60 minutes of play. CUW picked up 27 ground balls and were 19-28 on the clear.       

THE OPPOSITION
- Snow had a game-high five goals, while Helena Nguyen had four goals and Megan Furlong, Mikayla Knudson, and Ellie Tabaka all had one goal. Delaney Everett had a team-high two assists on the night for the Auggies.
