Scoring runs push Women’s Lacrosse to MWLC victory

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Concordia Wisconsin twice had five-goal scoring runs and ended the game with four in a row to power past Concordia Chicago, 15-5, on Saturday afternoon during cold and blustery conditions.

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Wisconsin built a comfortable 6-2 lead at the intermission behind a five-goal run over a nine-minute stretch midway through the first half. They then exited halftime and tallied five goals in a row again to build an 11-4 advantage.
- The Falcons piled on four goals during a four-plus minute time frame to walk off the field with a league victory.
- Concordia Wisconsin had six players score in the win, with senior Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill.) leading all players with four goals, to go along with four ground balls, five draw controls and two caused turnovers.
- Freshman Ciara Bond (White Bear Lake, Minn.) and junior Kristen Kennedy (London, Ontario) each had hat tricks, with Kennedy also assisting on a pair of goals and going 2-for-2 on free-position attempts. Junior Lauren Paquin (Waukesha, Wis.) and senior Caitlin Henry (Lansing, Ill.) each found the back of the net twice.
- Sophomore Nicole DeMeo (Niles, Ill.) ended with a goal, assist and three ground balls. Paquin also had a career-high-tying seven ground balls and three caused turnovers.
- Overall, 12 Falcons had a ground ball and nine had three or more.
- Sophomore Kennedy Boyer (Saline, Mich.) made nine saves in a complete game victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Concordia Wisconsin is 3-0 all-time against Concordia Chicago and has outscored them 47-9.
- The Falcons 40 ground balls are tied for third-most in a game in program history.

THE OPPOSITION
- Sydney Fuller had two goals, four ground balls, five draw controls and two caused turnovers for the Cougars, who played one player short the entire game.
- Anna Kellar ended with a goal, assist, six ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers.
