HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a long road trip CUW settled in and found their rhythm early to take a commanding 4-0 lead within the first 10 minutes of the contest. The first four goals were from four different Falcons attackers starting with senior Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill.), sophomore Jenny Rudenga, senior Caitlin Henry (Lansing, Ill.) and junior Lauren Paquin (Waukesha, Wis.).
- Concordia Wisconsin went on to score nine unanswered goals before Loras was able to find the back of the net with just over one-minute left in the first half. Junior Ellie Woodman (Janesville, Wis.) then answered the lone opponent goal with just 14 seconds left to bring the score to 10-1 in favor of CUW at the end of the first half.
- The second half was much of the same, as the first half. Concordia Wisconsin jumped all over Loras by netting eight straight goals before Loras could add another goal late in the period. Henry then tacked on the final goal of the afternoon to bring the score to 19-2 and capture the victory for the Falcons.
- Paquin, sophomore Nicole DeMeo (Niles, Ill.), and Henry led CUW with five goals each, as they were able to penetrate the defense and find the back of the net. Junior Kennedy Boyer (Saline, Mich.) was in goal for Concordia Wisconsin and managed to stop five shots throughout 60 minutes of play. The Falcons created 22 turnovers and were able to pick up 24 ground balls. CUW outshot Loras 42-8 and were 5-of-6 on free position shots.
