Preview: Women's Lacrosse begins MWLC play

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin begins Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference play on Wednesday with a 4 pm matchup against Beloit at Fitting Field.

NEWSWORTHY NOTES
•  MWLC OPENER: Concordia Wisconsin is playing in its MWLC opener against Beloit on Wednesday and is 6-1 all-time in the first conference game of the season. More so, every time they have begun league play at home and they are 23-10 in home conference games.
•  KUREK BREAKS ANOTHER RECORD: Allison Kurek has been one of the most successful players in program history and last Saturday she broke the career record for points (212), surpassing the former Sammi Reiter (who is now Sammi Weiser and the head coach of Beloit). Kurek also owns the career record for shots attempted (322), shots on goal (259), ground balls (251), draw controls (272), caused turnovers (188) and game-winning goals (9). The senior is also four goals shy of setting the career record and currently has 163.
• SCOUTING BELOIT: The Buccaneers have struggled this season to stay with opponents, losing by an average of eight goals in their five games. Nicole Dolcimascolo and Morgan Nicholson are the only two players with double-digit goals, while Alexa Aarakelian has played every minute in goal and is saving 30.7 percent of the shots she faces.
• THE SERIES, LAST TIME: Concordia Wisconsin hasn't lost in the five meetings all-time against Beloit, owning an 81-34 scoring advantage. During the last meeting on April 12 of last season; the Falcons began the game with four goals in a row, led 11-6 at halftime and outscored the Buccaneers 8-0 in the second half to win 19-6 on the road.
