Women's Hockey falls against No. 3 Adrian

MEQUON, Wis. – Three goals in each the first and second periods by third-ranked Adrian proved to be too much for the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Hockey team as the Falcons fell Saturday by a 7-1 score.

THE BASICS
- Final Score: No. 3 Adrian 7, Concordia Wisconsin 1

- Records: Adrian 13-2-0, 9-1-0 NCHA; Concordia Wisconsin 4-11-1, 2-8-0 NCHA

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bulldogs built a 6-0 lead after two periods of play thanks to three first-period goals, and three more in the second. Kaylyn Schroka played a role in five of those goals, assisting on all three in the opening stanza and scoring the first two of the second.

- Adrian's final two second-period goals were scored in the final minute before the second intermission. The last one, coming off the stick of Kristin Lewicki, came with just 10 seconds remaining in the period.

- Each team would score in the third period, the Falcons coming in the final minute on the power play. It was sophomore Lexi Holman (Sauk Rapids, Minn.) with the goal for the Falcons. Holman ran her point streak to eight straight games in the process. Senior Lexi Machuga (Rochester Hills, Mich.) and junior Veronika Metanova (Palatine, Ill.) assisted on the play.

- Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill.) was the goalie of record for the Falcons as she made 24 saves in the loss. Freshman Christina Pattengale (Portage, Mich.) played the third period and stopped 11 shots.

- Brooke Gibson picked up the win between the pipes for Adrian. She finished the game with 14 saves.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons will go on a six-game road swing beginning with a Wednesday matchup at Marian. All six of those games will be NCHA contests, two each at Marian, Lake Forest and Finlandia. The Falcons and Sabres are set for a 7 p.m. puck drop Wednesday night.
