DULUTH, Minn. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Hockey team dropped an NCHA road matchup at St. Scholastica Saturday by a 3-1 score. The Falcons saw the Saints score twice in the third period, breaking a 1-1 tie, in the conference matchup.

THE BASICS

- Final Score: St. Scholastica 3, Concordia Wisconsin 1
- Location: Mars Lakeview Arena – Duluth, Minn.
- Records: Concordia Wisconsin 3-4-1, 2-4-0 NCHA; St. Scholastica 4-3-0, 3-2-0 NCHA

HOW IT HAPPENED

- The Falcons scored late in the opening period to take a 1-0 lead over the Saints. It was junior Brittany Sticha (Lonsdale, Minn.) who scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season, which put the Falcons up 1-0 with 31 seconds remaining in the period. The Sticha score was on the power play as well, which was her fifth power play score of the year, already tying the Falcons single-season record.

- The 1-0 lead didn't last long for CUW as St. Scholastica tied the game up just 2:53 into the second. Nikki Logergren had the power play score for the Saints.

- The third period saw the Saints score twice in the opening seven minutes to build a 3-1 lead. The game-winner was tallied just 15 seconds into the final stanza on a goal by Sierra Hanowski.

- Freshman Christina Pattengale (Portage, Mich.) made 32 saves for the Falcons on Saturday. She had 13 of those in the second period.

- The Saints got a 27-save performance from Lindsey Hartfiel, 12 of those coming in the opening period. The Falcons outshot St. Scholastica 13-9 in the opening 20 minutes but were outshot 26-15 from that point on.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

- Sticha's fifth power play goal of the season ties Sarah Luberda and Alisha Java for most in a season for CUW. Sticha also has nine power play goals for her career now, which ties Luberda, Java and Sara Cole for the most in a career in Falcons history.

UP NEXT

- The Falcons will be off all next week and will return to the ice on December 4 for a two-game NCHA series against St. Norbert. CUW will host the Green Knights in both games, with the first contest being a 7 p.m. start at the Ozaukee Ice Center.
