Men's Track & Field partakes in UW-Platteville meet

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Track & Field continues its preparation for the NACC Indoor Championships in two weeks as they had another meet Saturday, competing at UW-Platteville.

Several athletes gained PRs on Saturday, including a host of runners in the 3,000-meter run. Sophomore Michael Taylor (Denmark, Wis.) paced the 3K runners with a personal-best time of 9:19.70 and he was followed by Christopher Biesboer (Elmhurst, Ill.) who clocked in at 9:27.78. Biesboer's PR was 11 seconds better than his previous best time. Brennan Linse (Jefferson, Wis.) and Johann Hinck (Cedarburg, Wis.) also posted personal-best efforts, running 9:29.94 and 9:43.03, respectively.

Alson on the track, CUW gained an impressive performance from Brandon Goesch (Germantown, Wis.) as he ran a 53.01 in the 400-metere dash. Goesch now ranks sixth in the NACC in the event. Jake Roy (Appleton, Wis.) also posted a PR in the 400, running a 53.11, which ranks seventh in the conference. Tanner Rutkowski (Wauwatosa, Wis.) competed in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:02.13, which ranks 8th in the NACC.

The Falcons got several other PRs on the track, which included Colter Dziekan (Mondovi, Wis.) in 200 (25.23), Sam Franckowiak (Carpentersville, Ill.) in the 60 (7.66), Jacob Grosenick (Richfield, Wis.) in the 200 (24.58) and Trent Pacheco (Iron Mountain, Mich.) in the 60-meter high hurdles (10.90). Jacob Schwark (Fraser, Mich.) has two PRs on Saturday, in the 60 high hurdles (10.28) and in the 400 (1:00.84).

Frank Jesse Long (Elwood, Ill.) had a strong day in the shot put, posting a mark of 14.48 meters. Long now ranks third in the NACC after his performance Saturday. Bathong Pham (Milwaukee, Wis.) cleared 3.91 meters in the pole vault, which ranks sixth in the NACC. Also gaining a PR in the field events was Tafari Young (Orlando, Fla.) who leaped 4.74 meters in the long jump.

The Falcons will compete at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Tune-Up meet next Friday at 4 p.m., the team's final meet before the NACC Indoor Championships.
