Falcons Hand First-Place MSOE its First Loss

MEQUON, Wis. – The Raiders are no longer undefeated in the 2022 campaign. The Falcons handed MSOE its first loss of the season with a 2-1 victory on Wednesday evening. The Raiders fall to 10-1-1 on the year and to 5-1-0 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. The Falcons earned three important points in the NACC standings and move to 5-2-4 and 2-2-3 in the conference.

The Raiders held a majority of the possession to start the match and struck first with a goal in the eighth minute.

Freshman Carson Kelly (Fond Du Lac, Wis.) leveled the match, scoring on a penalty kick in the 12th minute.

Kelly nearly struck again minutes later when he broke past defenders and tossed the ball into the far corner of the net, just to ring it off the post.

The Raiders started the second half with a pair of corner kicks but the CUW defense stood tall.

The Falcons struck again on a penalty kick in the 73rd minute off the boot of senior Nick Hummel (Green Bay, Wis.).

The 2-1 deficit is only the third time that the Raiders have trailed all season.

The Red and White peppered the Falcon net late in the match but freshman Jeremy Munoz (Milwaukee, Wis.) came up big once again. He finished the afternoon with six saves in the victory.

The Raiders held a 23-12 advantage in shots.

Nick Hummel led the flock with four shots in the victory.

The Falcons look to extend the winning streak on Saturday at Wisconsin – Platteville.
