Falcons Buck Beloit

BELOIT, Wis. – The CUW men's soccer team picked up a road victory on Sunday evening at Beloit. The Falcons improved to 2-0-0 on the year with a 3-1 victory against the Buccaneers.

The Falcons struck early in the 13th minute off the boot of sophomore Sam Butterfield (St. Louis, Mo.) with an assist to freshman Carson Kelly (Fond Du Lac, Wis.).

Senior Ivan Cuellar (Milwaukee, Wis.) found the back of the net 12 minutes later off an assist from senior Angel Uriostegui (Grayslake, Ill.).

The Buccaneers scored their lone goal in the 40th minute.

The Blue and White wasted no time in the second half and jumped back on the scoreboard in the 48th minute with Ivan Cuellar's second goal of the match courtesy of an assist from freshman Filiberto Saavedra (Milwaukee, Wis.).

The Concordia defense kept the Buccaneers under wrap the rest of the match to preserve the 3-1 victory.

Freshman Jeremy Munoz (Milwaukee, Wis.) picked up his second victory of the season in the net.

The birds held a 22-5 advantage in shots on Sunday night with Ivan Cuellar leading the way with six, including five on goal.

Concordia also held 59 percent of the possession in the victory.

The Falcons return to action on Wednesday afternoon at home against the Cardinals of North Central (Ill.).
