MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's hockey team hosted the No. 7 Aurora Spartans in game two of the weekend, home and home series.
The Spartans came out hot with a four-goal first period.
They opened the second period with a goal, but the Falcons responded on the powerplay just over three minutes later. Freshman Grant Newcomer (McFarland, Wis.) netted the only Falcon goal of the matchup with assists from freshman Derek Humphreys (Spokane, Wash.) and sophomore Nick Wieben (Mankato, Minn.).
The Spartans netted one more goal in the second period to close out the matchup with a final score of 6-1.
Freshman Dolan Gilbert (South Bend, Ind.) recorded 27 saves on the afternoon.
The Blue and White host the Raiders of MSOE on Friday and Saturday for a weekend series inside the Ozaukee Ice Center.
