Falcons Make Strides in Third Round of NACC Championship

AURORA, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's golf team wrapped up round three of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Golf Championship from the Stonebridge Country Club. 

As a team, the Falcons finished the third round with 342 strokes, which placed sixth. 

Following the third round, CUW has amassed 1,035 strokes, placing them in eighth overall, while Aurora continues to lead the pack. 

Sunday saw junior Joshua Samsell (Bay City, Mich.) lead the Blue and White with 84 strokes, which tied him for 21st among the third-round scores. Samsell parred nine times on the day and had one birdie on hole eight. In total, Samsell has an aggregate score of 258 and is tied for 27th overall.

One stroke behind Samsell was junior Tyler Yaun (Rockton, Ill.), who finished his day with a score of 85, placing him 25th for Sunday scores. With his score, Yaun has 262 total strokes through 54 holes, tied for 32nd place. 

Overall, both Joshua Samsell and Tyler Yaun posted their best rounds of the NACC Championships thus far. 

Junior Nico Murgas-Bennett (Hartford, Wis.), with 86 strokes, tied for 28th among 50 competitors. He had nine pars for an aggregate score of 259. Currently, Murgas-Bennet sits tied for 29th place.  

The last Falcon to score was sophomore Trevor Wotring (Johnsburg, Ill.), who tallied 87 strokes for 30th place and had a birdie on the 10th hole. 

Meanwhile, senior Trenton Sherman (Farmington, Minn.) shot a 98.

The Falcons will compete in the fourth and final round of the NACC Championships tomorrow, Monday, April 22, where they will look to climb the leaderboard, slated for 10 a.m. at the Stonebridge Country Club.
